What we store
Short version: very little, and nothing that says who you are.
Playing Sock Run
Your progress (best times, medals, ghosts and settings) is saved on your own device, in your browser's storage or in the game's folder on Windows. It never leaves your device unless you use the online leaderboard.
The online leaderboard
When you post a time, the leaderboard stores:
- the nickname you choose;
- a random player number made on your device;
- your runs: times, checkpoint splits and the controls you pressed (used to catch cheats).
No email, real name, age, location or device details, and no IP addresses are kept. Nicknames are checked for rude words, and anyone can report a name; a reported name is hidden until it's reviewed.
To delete your online scores: in the game, open Settings and choose Delete my online scores. Your runs, your nickname and your player number are removed straight away. (If a player was banned for breaking the rules, the number is kept, without a name, so the ban still holds.)
This website
The website uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. Its fonts and images are served from this site. The "Fastest runs" section reads the public leaderboard (names and times only) and sends nothing about you. Like every website, it's delivered by a hosting company (Cloudflare), which handles requests to keep the site fast and secure.
